The U.S. mining company, Phelps Dodge, announced recently that it will construct a $42 million plant to produce magnetic cable in the northern Mexican state of Nuevo Leon. The Phoenix, Arizona based company added that construction will begin in this year, operations will start in 1998 and 100 workers will be hired. Magnetic cable is used in motors and other systems in electric machines.
