MEXICO ACCUSES U.S. OF VIOLATING NAFTA

The Mexican Secretary of Commerce, Herminio Blanco Mendoza, denounced the United States for violating the rights of Mexican truckers and violating its obligations under the North American Free Trade Agreement (Tratado de Libre Comercial de America del Norte, TLC) at a recent Conference on Business Opportunities between Mexico and Portugal. What is important, he said, is to define that we have had problems. We have had to defend our truckers and are going to continue insisting on their rights.

Secretary Blanco added that with the end to the elections in the United States, the two countries could begin working to resolve the bi-national problems regarding commerce which have been languishing all year, and that Mexico could present its case that the U.S has ignored agreements within the NAFTA.
