DRUG INSPECTIONS HAMPER MEXICAN EXPORTS

A Mexican drug inspection program named "Precos" is causing problems for Mexican exporters, it was reported in November. Federal inspectors are breaking open the seals on merchandise before shipments leave the country. The activity is creating problems in the exportation process because U.S. Customs agents are refusing to allow shipments with broken seals to enter the United States. In November, Canaco, the Mexican Chamber of Commerce, announced its concerns with the Precos methods, used by the Federal agents. Canaco is trying to come up with an agreement with both Customs and the Federal Agents to establish a solution to the problem.
